Welcome to Ellington Park

Ellington Park is a Victorian 12 acre park with over 400 trees and rolling Victorian landscape and was set out by landscape designer Cheal & Son in 1893.

In 2021 the park was lovingly restored and improved by The Friends of Ellington Park and Thanet District Council with the support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, creating a new multipurpose café and toilet building, new playground and pathways, fully restored terrace, balustrades and bandstand and heritage planting. Information signs can be found around the park for visitors to enjoy the rich history.

The Wildlife Garden and Bookshop

The wildlife garden and pond was established in 2013 and promotes a natural habitat by creating a home and feeding ground for animals and insects to enjoy and thrive. The bookshop and wildlife garden are managed by The Friends of Ellington Volunteers. Look out for our regular bookshop opening times!

Play Area & Fitness

There are two play areas and a ‘trim trail’ in Ellington Park for visitors to enjoy and keep active.

Café and Toilets

The café and toilets are open six days a week (Tuesday to Sunday) 10am -4pm (later in the summer). The café serves hot and cold food and drinks with seating in and outside. One of the toilets has a baby changing facility and is wheelchair accessible.

Please enjoy and use the park and be mindful of other users. Help us to keep the park safe by keeping aggressive dogs on leads and keep all dogs out of the wildlife area. Please keep the park clean by putting litter in the bins provided. There are also dog mess bins for dog owners to dispose of the waste responsibly.

Thank you.
