The Friends of Ellington Park was formed over 10 years ago as a community group to make our local park a nicer place to visit, and to raise funds for events and facilities for the local community. We have since become a registered charity and, working with Thanet District Council which owns the park, we were successful in attracting National Heritage Lottery funding. This has enabled us to undertake a beautiful refurbishment of the original Victorian features of the Park, including the restoration of the bandstand and stonework, new planting, pathways and signage as well as the building of a new café and toilet facilities.

The purpose of the Friends is to promote the Park for the benefit of local people, to provide opportunities for recreation and leisure and contribute to the wellbeing of all who use the Park. Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, in 2022, Ellington Park became the first green space in Thanet to be awarded the prestigious Green Flag status, and we are keen to do whatever is needed to keep this accreditation year on year.

Our Charity number is: 1185399. The Café is a separate company, Friends of Ellington Park Café Ltd, who we work alongside.
